We encourage all our clients to read these Terms and Conditions before making a booking. These will apply upon the confirmation of the booking, and the person(s) making the booking and El Yak will be contractually binded unless both the client and El Yak mutually agree to adapt or modify certain terms.

About us

El Yak is a premier adventure and mindful tourism company specializing in mountain biking, educational and community oriented trips. El Yak’s mission is to promote meaningful tourism across the Nepal Himalayas and bring direct benefits to local communities by engaging local guides and community members. The dynamic El Yak team comprises adventure guides, educators, community workers, and researchers and experts on local community empowerment, climate change, mindfulness and wellbeing.

Bookings

  • Customers are encouraged to confirm their bookings at least 2-3 weeks prior to intended departure for all El Yak tours. This enables us to prepare for our tours adequately, and get you well informed and prepared for the experience.
  • All bookings require a non-refundable payment of at least 20% of the tour costs for confirmation. The non-refundable payment is required to ensure we can smoothly begin preparations for all confirmed bookings immediately, and provide each client dedicated customer service. You can also book a trip on our website without payment, but the booking will only be official after El Yak receives confirmation of the initial payment.
  • The remaining 80% of the total costs must be paid before commencing the booked tour. More details on payments can be found below.
  • By confirming your booking, you enter a contractual agreement with El Yak for the travel experience, where in you confirm that you are travelling with El Yak and agree to stated terms and conditions.

Payments

  • At least 40% of the tour costs must be paid at the time of booking confirmation. We use this initial non-refundable payment to make adequate and early preparations to give you the best travel experience.
  • The remaining 60% payment is refundable and must be made before the tour commences.
  • At least 75% payment (including initial non-refundable payment of 20%) must be made 10 days before the trip departure date. If you book the trip within 10 days of the departure date, you must make 75% payment during confirmation of your booking.
  • The remaining 25% payment can be made online on our website before you depart for Nepal or after you arrive at the international airport in Nepal. The payment must however be made before we begin our adventures.

Cancellations and refunds

  • Clients may have cancel their bookings for various unforeseen reasons. We work closely with our clients to efficiently help with bookings or cancellations, and even help them plan an adventure for the future upon cancellation.
  • Cancellations have to be approved at least 3 days prior to trip departure.
  • Upon cancellation of the tour, unless explicitly stated during booking, El Yak will refund up to 60% of the tour costs if the client has already made all the payment.
  • We are unable to refund the initial 40% payment at the time of booking confirmation.
  • Refunds may take a few weeks to process if the payment has been made online, or immediately if the client is already in Nepal.

Tour extension and additional activities

  • Clients may want to experience additional adventures or visit more places when they are travelling in Nepal. Any additional activity that clients may want during a tour can be easily arranged. Additional charges may apply.
  • We have many clients who have wanted to extend their stay if Nepal after the end of a tour with us. We offer exclusively priced day-hikes, mountain biking, rafting, mindfulness, or other experiences for our clients. Explore Nepal for longer with easy tour extension add-ons and additional costs, exclusively optimized for you as a parting thank you gift from El Yak.

Liabilities

  • Each person in the tour group is required to sign a travel waiver form after booking and before the tour commences that details the different liabilities and responsibilities of El Yak and you as a client.
  • All clients must be prepared with a travel insurance, health insurance, and all required official documentation for international travel and travel within Nepal.
  • Clients are encouraged to prepare for any specific medication they may need before arrival in Nepal. We can also help you get informed about the kinds of medication that is available in Nepal.
